Transit: TriMet and Portland Streetcar
Load your existing Hop card or get a new one
You can use your Transportation Wallet benefits by applying them to a new or existing Hop
Fastpass® card. Also called “Hop cards,” these refillable fare cards are used to pay
for rides on TriMet, Portland Streetcar, and some other Portland-area transit services.
If you already have a Hop card, simply enter the 16-digit number and security code when you redeem
your public transit benefits. Your Hop card will instantly load and you can start using your
benefits right away.
If you don’t have a Hop card already, no problem! We will load a new Hop card with your transit
benefits and mail it to you.
Important
The Transportation Wallet program cannot load transit benefits to virtual Hop cards.
Reload your Hop card when your balance reaches $50 or less
Your TriMet benefits are split into two installments in your Transportation Wallet. Redeem the first
$100 installment onto your Hop card when you first sign-up. When your balance reaches $50 or less
you can redeem the second installment, which is an additional $100 (for a total of $200 in value!).
Hop card balance protection
Did you know that Hop cards have balance protection if your card is ever lost or stolen? If
you want this protection, you must first register your Hop card at myhopcard.com or in the Hop App. (And remember to report your lost/stolen card as soon as
you can!)
