Car-Share

Car-sharing, where one vehicle is used by many people, offers another option for getting around town–or even out of town. Unlike ride-sharing, where someone else drives you around in their car, car-sharing allows you to drive yourself with the knowledge that the vehicle you’re using will be available to you throughout your trip. You can bring your friends, your stuff, and even your pets, with some rules and restrictions.

Free2Move: Rent a car by the minute, hour, or day. When you’re done, leave it anywhere in the Free2Move service area.

Getaround: Book a car or list your own for others to use. Choose from an array of makes to models to rent by the hour or day.

Turo: Book a car or list your own for others to use. Choose from an array of makes to models to rent by the hour or day.

Zipcar: Book cars for round trips by the hour or by the day. Need a car on a regular basis? Membership options are available. Zipcar vehicles must be picked up from and returned to specific parking locations.

There used to be a link here that directed people to a full list of Portland car-sharing companies, but that list only included the ones already found here. And the list was buried in a bunch of other content. So I took it out. Let me know if it needs to come back.

Taxis and Ride-Hailing

Want to leave the driving to someone else? Taxis and ride-hailing, where a driver picks you up and takes you where you need to go, is a great option where you can reserve a ride either by phone or by using an app, depending on the company.

There used to be a link in this vicinity taking people to what the copy said was a PBOT-owned comprehensive list of all the ride-hailing services running in Portland. The link led to a PDX International Airport page of taxi companies serving the airport. The list only included the cab / ride-hailing companies you’re already calling out on this page, so I took out the link. Let me know if it needs to come back.
